It's really not. In fact, it actually gets about 20% less rainfall than the UK average.

I think the main problem is in Manchester is that when it does rain, it really does completely pour down, it's not just a little shower or some drizzle. I'm from Cornwall which is alot wetter so maybe that's why I don't notice that much. Also, the rain is usually at night or in the morning, the days are pretty dry, just cold and grey!

I live in Manchester, and it does rain, but not LOADS. The average weather is just pretty grim, not rainy, but cloudy and grey! But when it rains, it RAINS, but then again, when it's sunny, the city itself is lovelyyy!

I visit friends in Manchester from time to time and the weather's not as bad as the reputation. There's been a lot of redevelopment over the last few years.

The worst thing about Manchester is the fortnightly invasion of people who have no connection with the area and are going to visit the neighbouring area of Trafford.

It does rain a lot, but it just makes the sunny days all the more nicer.

Dunno, I want to know when summer starts tbh.....

I quickly typed Manchester into google images. And this is what came out.....

Notice even the children have umbrellas.

Also I would like to point out, that the guy who sells umbrellas outside the arndale is there all year around. Never a poor time for him.

The weather in Manchester is like the Muslims in Iraq.

It's either Sunni or Shi-aite.

I think it's safe to say - bring a waterproof jacket and a strong umbrella.

p.s where can you buy a durable umbrella that is unlikely to turn inside out?
