Go to your doctor. It's possible your asthma has got worse, or you just may need new medication. You should have regular reviews anyway.
Depending on how uncomfortable the pain is, maybe you could try either the NHS Direct helpline (0845 4647) or the website (http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/) (the helpline is better but takes longer). Given that it's lasted all day I'd check with one or the other just to be on the safe side. Hope you feel better soon
Being an asthmatic individual myself, I find if the pain in my chest lasts even after taking medication it is best to go to the doctor. However, I suggest that the problem may be due to the fact that you have been exposed to unclean air during the day and personally I find this to be disruptive of my breathing. When you feel better try going out to swim or get some fresh air somewhere. Hope it helps, I know it's a pain!
