how long hav you been on it? If its making it that bad then go back to your doctor, they'll be ble to help you way more than anyone who posts on here
2 months, was really hoping that they would work as a last resort. But I don't know what else I should do, really starting to get me down now.

go back to your doctor - there are other brands of the pill you can try
thing is I was told about it by someone and from reading up about it its supposed to be effective on acne, but my (crap) doctor told me when I was given it that it doesnt work, so just wondering who else has tried it?

have you tried antibiotics? MY friend is getting married in sept and wanted some antibiotics as her pill wasn't working - so she went and got antibiotics from her doc and they're working a treat
Tried everything, this is supposed to be a last resort

hey! i am on it (have been for almost 3 and a half years) and it took 7-8 months for a decent improvement for me, though didn't make it worse. do you wear foundation/concealer? i actually found that stopping wearing make up really also helped to clear my skin up.
if not, you could ask your doctor about roaccutane?
 does it always take that long to work? It was getting bad before I went on the dianette so couln't be 100% that it is the cause. Have you had side effects, I've not stopped eating since I started.

I was given dianette for my spots! It did take about 4 months to work though so maybe give it a few more months.
when i went on it for three months it made my skin less greasy after about 2 months, and i used zineryt at the same time, and it helped lots, but i wasnt allowed to stay on diannette any longer because of the potential side effects.

I was on dianette for just over a year- took about 4 months before I found a noticable improvement. However, you're not meant to stay on it for over a year or so due to harmful effects on your liver.
If you have any concerns or worries, make an appointment to see your GP, thats what they are there for!! Obviously not all medications agree with all people, so you have to find out what works best for you.
Does it really give you liver problems???

I was on it for 8 months and my skin improved immensely - not a single spot! However I couldn't stop eating and put on over 2 stone so I stopped taking it.

Liver problems? Been on it now for 4 years and never been told to stop taking it?!
Dianette definitely works for me. It takes about 6 months before you will see noticeable results and some people do experience a worsening of their acne soon after they start to take it. Unless you are getting other negative side effects apart from the worsening of acne I'd continue taking it for 6 months and see if it improves.

LOL I've been taking it for about 8 years. I don't think liver problems are a particular concern unless you already have a history of liver problems. The real concern is blood clots. Some studies have shown Dianette to be associated with a higher risk of blood clots. If you have a family history of blood clots you should consult your doctor about this. Yasmin is also meant to be good for acne but it's no good if you have any history of kidney problems (because it has a potassium sparing diuretic effect). Basically you should make sure your doctor knows your personal and family medical history but don't freak out as the risks are still very small in people without a history blood clots.
Sorry guys, i was on dianette for 3 years and never had any problems (no medical probs i mean - i did gain weight tho- 1/2 a stone weight gain) but was told by brook to come off it as its far too strong. Doctors arent supposed to prescribe dianette anymore, as its such a strong dosage, it also has alot of negative side effects for some people.
I think in some cases for skin its still used, but for contraception its completely wrong - im now on this green pill packet thing, which actually made me lose weight at first!

- all this info is from brook, so it may be wrong, but id suggest you talk to them.

My doctor said it isnt meant to be prescibed as a contraceptive anymore so I pay for it now for my skin, its very good.
I was actually given it for facial hair, to decrease it, but I didn't see that much difference with it, but my skin was great with it - no spots at all. after I came off I has so shocked to see a spot! But weight gain was a major issue :frown:

I've never had a problem with weight gain on it at all. Microgynon though made me retain water and eat like there's no tomorrow! The pill is so unpredictable as to what it'll do!
