Law LLB: Edinburgh or Aberdeen?

Having received all of my offers for Law, I have narrowed down my uni preferences to Aberdeen and Edinburgh.

I'm leaning toward Edin at the moment as I'm informed - correct me if I'm wrong - that a degree from Edin carries more weight with Law firms; additionally there is, of course, the deeply-cultured city and the fact that almost all 1st year accommodation has internet access; an important, nay, praiseworthy advantage.

On the other hand, I'm aware that Aberdeen has something like a 97% employment rate for graduates (I'm unsure whether Edin reflects this) and the same top Law school rating. Living near Inverness, I also know the city quite well; whereas with Edin I'd be throwing myself into unfamiliar territory.

If anyone could send adivce in my direction then I'd be very grateful. :tsr2:

First off well done on all of your offers :yy:!! As for a decision between Edinburgh and Aberdeen, I would be inclined also to go with Edinburgh as I agree that it carries more weight with prospective employers. It was originally going to be my first choice but i got rejected :frown: . I'm going to Strathclyde Law School which is supposed to be great, and if not there, it will be Dundee. So yeah, I would say Edinburgh. About the not nowing the place: Most people say that they prefer going away from home for their degree as it supposedly makes the experiece much better. I wouldn't worry about not nowing anyone either, it's a large city and it has the biggest Law School in Scotland so i wouldn't worry about that front. Good Luck anyway.

Edinburgh; it has a much stronger international rep.

Can't comment on the quality of the individual courses though.

Great choice, and I hope you have a stellar time at Edinburgh!
Don't worry about the distance either. A huge number of people will have to travel even further than you to go to Edinburgh Uni, so everyone's in the same boat. For example, Inverness is the nearest mainland town to me and I still have to get a two-hour ferry and travel 150 miles to get there, so imagine how I feel about Edinburgh! FANTASTIC!!

Good choice. Edinburgh is the obvious choice of the two!
