Dissertation ideas - clinically related?

Hiya psychological peeps

It's that time of the year, where I have to come up with my dissertation plan and select my supervisor. I want to do my dissertation on something clinically related, but Its supposed to be very difficult in using patients from hospitals/care homes (takes like 6 months to get ethics approval).

Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do my dissertation on?

I was thinking of doing it on self harm and the effects it has on students. Or depression, stress etc... something like that. But I really would love to use psychiatric patients. Has anyone done this?

Haven't done anything, but wouldn't it be easier to use patients of anxiety disorders like phobias/OCD. I mean its still your sorta area isn't it, but less ethical issues than if you were working with someone self-harming/depression and so much more vulnerable to the consequences that could occur in research with them. Just a thought to throw in there

Well from a register but like its the same boat if you wanted to do with depressed people as well isn't it.

Clinically-related can include caffeine/nicotine/cannabis studies, which would be easier to find populations for. Assuming you're an undergrad, I would doubt that any supervisor would let you near vulnerable populations.

I discourage a caffeine study for the record  , as they are edgy and emotional and just too much hassle!
