When one door closes, another opens.

This might seem like the end of the world right now, but who knows what positive things could come from this. Maybe you'll find something else you'll love, and meet your future partner, great new friends, etc.

I know it must seem like the end of the world right now, but just be thankful that you are still alive, and I assume will be in good/better health after the op.

Don't give a temporary hick-up in your life, a permanent solution.

It is possible for you to try talking about this with a friend who knows you well - a close/best friend perhaps? They, knowing you well, maybe able to offer better, more suitable advice than us, good-intending strangers.

It is very natural to feel this way. Many people have this kind of worries and thoughts before a major operation that is going to bring a big change into their life and effect what thay can and cannot do. It is not uncommon to feel like a burden, but just becouse you will need some extra help with some things does not mean that you are a burden. There will be a planty of things that you still will be able to enjoy, ways to contribute etc. Most importantly you are important to many people who want you to survive, get better, be there for them.

Please talk about how you feel with your doctor, nurse etc There is support in place to help you figure out how to best deal with that huge change. Also maybe you could talk with a close friend or somone in your family? It can help a lot if you shere your worries.

There are other things in our lives like music, painting, or even writting. You can study science, and do so many other things. give advise to people who play the same sports. Don't you think u'll get a lot more happiness in that. Just think about it. Beethoven was deaf but he created the best music. He could have thought that it wasn't worth it. But you will find something. The future is exciting. Trust me!

You may have to give up practicing sports, but have you thought about studying phisiotherapy or working with others who play sports... eg trainer, teacher etc.

You will never be a burden to those who love you... don't give up on life... there's so much you can do. It may be harder for you, but it will definitly be more rewarding and you'll have so much respect of others if you go for things you want, despite this.

Maybe talking to a medical councellor would be a good idea... they will know more about your condition and be able to tell you whick avenues into sports are open for you.

Best speak to someone you're close to and try not taking advice from people saying 'trust me' and it's 'normal' to think about suicide; because it's not normal - trust me on that.

If you want to run to the bridge, then feel free - you'll be a burden to those who care about you by thinking such extremes. Thinking you'll be useless, you will be useless.

However (I know you seen it coming), as andy_c has said - you're relying on input from Any-mouse people on an internet forum. Would you really take anything any of us said as your course of action?

You most definately need counselling if you're thinking of killing yourself. But it can be overcome, with good prospects/ oppertunities at the end of it - if you stay here long enough to fight for them.

How long have you been interested in this said career path? A career, though fundamental in ones standard of living; with the chance to travel, meet like-minded persons, have a meaningful job where you are respected is not the be all and end all. What would you have done should you never been able to participate in this career? If at an early age, you'd have ben upset - then decided you want to be an astronaut, or the likes. Simply because it's came at a later stage in your life, doesn't make it any more a sore-blow. But it is nothing more than a sore-blow, and can be recovered from.

Best thing for you buddy, talk to a friend. Or if you don't have any friends, get some, and talk to them. Then go speak to a psych and get yourself sorted out.
