Major friend bust-up - caught in the middle

Very abbreviated version of the story:

I have 2 friends Liz and Adam. I'm better friends with Liz, though have been getting to know Adam a bit better recently. Can I just point out there is no problems with anyone fancying anyone here - it's all platonic friendships.

Basically, Adam told me the other day that he can't stand Liz anymore, she drives him crazy. They've had a bit of a history of arguments, big fights etc, and I thought everything was ok now. Liz thinks of Adam as one of her best friends, but he obviously isn't. I can see why Adam gets annoyed at her - she always acts differently around different people, trying to act all 'cool' and 'hard' and it does p*** a lot of people off. (Me included sometimes). Adam also said he's going to do something about this - there's a party coming up and he said he's going to "get wasted and let her have it" in his own words. Basically, their friendship is going to be over.

I really like both of them as good mates, and if they stop being friends completely it's going to wreck our whole group of friends and be completely awkward. I know Liz will expect me to stop talking to Adam as well, especially since we've only become good friends recently, but I'm obviously not going to do that. I don't know what to do - I don't want to fall out with either of them but things aren't looking good.

Any advice on what to do, if there is anything I can do?

Your mates shouldn't, and probably won't, make you choose between them. No-one would put a marra in that kind of situation.

Talk to her and mention she has been acting differently. If she was a good friend she would understand you want to be friends with both of them.

Sounds like Adam is two faced and not a very good friend for telling you all that and putting you in the middle. Also sounds like he's fickle. I'd ditch him and stay friends with Liz. He doesnt sound like a particularly good friend.
