I'll be doing Edexcel Mathematics A-level through distance learning. What's the paper combination that would most likely yield an A given the right amount of work?

Well you have to do C1-C4, so you're really asking which applied modules to do.

In short, it all depends on what you like.

Have you done Physics? Do you mind learnig 'processes' without much justification for them or explanation of their derivation?

I've finished M1-M3, nearly finished D1 and have started S1.

I've done Physics, and like Mechanics, so it would be M1 and M2 for me. I self-taught both in about 3 (intense) weeks, but I had done Higher Physics and AS-Physics by the time of the exam. They are pretty easy really and I like them because there is a sort of causal process going on which I can follow.

This is not the case for S1, so far at least, and because we are running out of time, we basically get no theory and just plug numbers into things which is not much fun.

D1 is the module I do when I can't really be arsed thinking about anything. Because its entry-level, there's a lot of defintions to familiarise yourself with before you can get into anything meaty. It's alright though and I quite enjoy bits of it. It's also quite long.

So, I haven't sat S1 or D1 but I hear they're pretty easy marks. M1 and M2 are as well if you know the stuff but the UMS typically does not get skewed up for M1 or M2 whereas it usually does, quite drastically, for D1. Not sure about S1.
