I've always heard that boys lose their virginity on average at around 16 and for girls it's 17 - I'm not sure if that's true.
I think your little brother may be an exception, although he's not a very very small minority, there are more people having sex very young - although you do have to consider the people who are lying.

13 seems a bit young IMO, in my experience the average age is probably about 15 or 16.
13? He couldn't have even been developed by then

I just found out that my lil brother lost his virginity on his 13th birthday (he's now 16) QUOTE]

I highly doubt it.
wel just rememba that everyine is veri different, so the term 'right' might be very different in peoples eyes. I agree that at age 13 you can still be a lil confused about it all etc and proberly unable to make these big decisions. i was about 14 and a half it all worked, loved it and i have never looked back...
it depends where ur from around where i live yer loosing it aged 14 or 13 is nt that common, however i got loads o m8s about 20 mins away where most ppl hav had sex by age 14...

just whatever feels right... however as for not knowing who you did it wiv!! thats nt veri nice, at least the girl i did it wiv is still one of my bestest m8s!
I'm 18 almost 19 and i would say that i wouldn't feel comfortable having sexual relations with someone, so i guess it all depends. i don't possibly see how you can be ready at age 13

Im sure that someone losing their virginity aged 13 wouldn't be able to see how you arn't ready yet. Its all down to individual differences.

I agree that 13 is an extremely young age to lose it nonetheless

The UK average is 16.6, as of last year.

I definitely think 13 is too young; way too many emotional/hormonal changes going on around that time to be decided someone is 'right' to sleep with.
wel i still say everyone is different but yer 13 is too young but to be honest it happens everywhere all the time!

I reckon 14/15 is average for a male

There are some fairly extensive stats on this - it totally depends on your background, where you live, who you mix with etc. 16/17 remains the norm - in some places it may be younger, but that doesn't mean it's ok - these places probably also have higher STI and teenage pregnancy rates (to cast a huge and horrible generalisation).

Sex under 16 is still ILLEGAL, and I think the law is there for a reason. 13/14 is almost universally too young to cope with that sort of thing, regardless of whether it's "what everyone does."

Hang on...I feel stupid but can someone clarify this for me:
I thought it was only illegal for someone over 16 to have sex with someone under 16...but if two 14's year olds have sex, is that illegal?

to my knowledge the age for a girl to have sex she has to be 16. it doesn't stand for a boy although it does for gay sex. i'm not too sure where it stands for an under 16 year old boy having sex with someone over that age. two 15 year olds having sex would be illegal though because the girl is under the age of 16. and if it was gay sex, it'll be illegal as they are both under 16.

But what about the cases you hear about on the news of female teachers being jailed for having sex with an under-age boy? I thought 16 was the age for both girls and boys but maybe I'm wrong.

Yes.
One of my friends lost theirs at 11 with some girl in a water park. I kid you not.
