Percentages

I know this is a basic question but I can't remember what I need to do in order to answer the question.

Chloe buys a dress for £60 in a sale. She notices that the original price was £75. Work out the % reduction there was in the sale.

You like rules. Use this one:

Percentage change = change in price / original price x 100

I see you have answered your own question but I don't know if you were just copying out an answer that was provided.
All right 75 pounds is the 100%
While 60 pounds is what is left after deduction, lets say x(what we need to find)
Rearange the equation:
Multiply 75 pounds by x(unknown %)
Multiply 60 by 100%
Hencew divide 6000 by 75

I'm not too find of sticking with rules it's just that, thats the way I've been taught. It just like when teachers tell you to know the quadratic formula but they don't show you where it came from.

Well it's not all teachers but you know you can't exactly blame me. I try to do me best.
