BBC History - got myself a copy when I was in the UK. It's a really good read.

Yer, definately agree - its a great magazine - get this month's edition - FREE book!! (Very Short Introduction to the Crusades - not a bad read!).

Yeah, I get BBC History, though to be honest it seems rare for the articles to go into as much depth as perhaps you'd like if you're thinking about studying it academically. Also, every month I fill out the crossword and send it off and I never win!

I've got a few copies of 'History Review' though I haven't subscribed to it as I consider it a tad expensive. The articles are very good though and the style is more academic rather than trying to be entertaining like the BBC one.

History Today is not bad but quite expensive I find! Also there is not loads in it! :frown: To be honest I am against all History mags, they just seem to scrape the barrel and do not go into depth. Better off saving and buying books! Also I find that half of the articles explain periods in history which I have absolutely no grasp of. Fine, I would like to read about it, but I usually like to cast my opinion on things!

It is magnificent, but it is not war.
- General Pierre Bosquet on The Charge Of The Light Brigade in The Crimean War
My college had an online subscription to History Today, so I was pretty much able to use that for my personal study. The articles seemed pretty useful to me. :p:
