Broken hand :(

About a month ago i broke my right hand, i wont go into details how  lets just say i was drunk  . But the cast on it is really annoying so i cut it off yesterday so i could drive, eat, and some other things lol. But when the nurse was putting the cast on she said it was for protection so i dont know if it was helping it heal.

But i was wondering if i just be really careful with it out of a cast will it heal the same?

you need the cast so it heals properly.and you don't get tissues growing in the wrong positions etc etc. well done genious  they're given for a reason you know.pfff

however it's possible nothing might happen.goodluck to ya.

Go to the doctor and say it was a bit tight or something cutting off your circulation and ask if you can have a new one.
Better than ur hand fixing funny
The cast will just prevent it from being knocked about. Without it, you might accidentally move your hand and cause extra damage. i wld keep it on just to be safe, hope it heals quickly for you

Surely after a month it will have pretty much realligned itself and be fixed, it will just need to strengthen, i would say the cast at that stage would be there for protection...
Yeah go back to your doctor!
It will be really vulnerable to re-breakage. Also, if it hasn't fully healed, and you remove the cast it could rotate or angulate, which will require srugery to correct.

Why would you take matters into your own hands and simply cut it off..I don't understand the logic behind it... Just go back to the hospital and get it put back on.

Was it not painful when they first fit it? The risk you take on not having a cast is dependant on how badly you broke your hand. Casts are mainly just to protect it from any knocks so i wouldn't worry about it too much but definitely go back to the hospital and explain and see if it's necessary to have it on.

If it was painful the nurse may have put it on too tight... go back and ask for a new one, and explain why you took it off in the first place. But you should definitely get a new one - they give you the cast for a reason, not just to cause you pain or stop you doing anything! If you did hurt your hand while it was still healing, then you could be doing more damage.
