    These are getting annoying now.
    Here are a few examples.

Any way these responses can be stopped?

Agreed. They are a weak form of advertising. And just clutter all the posts.

Hmmm, thats strange, Im seeing them aswell, we aren't supposed to see the ads :s:

Erm, well, coursework.info is owned by Student Media Services, as is TSR. Nothing wrong with a bit of shameless self promotion eh? :p:

That is not an ad. That is an account that is used for autoresponces (like the TSR account warns you etc*) this one links you to sites.

    I could be wrong though.

I think it was set up by the admins. It is not a search engine bot.

    It's an ad bot.

Rather annoying I would think, but it seems to be confined to Academic.

However, considering the fiasco of exam papers appearing on TSR, is it a wise idea to have ad bots which advertise a site where coursework is available for purchase?

Why does it have a green username like it is a sub? :s:

They only reply to unanswered threads that are [x amount of time] old.

It's like "No one can be arsed to reply to this question so let's set the bot on 'em!"

It's a post, with its own Post ID. The ad will remain even if you have that software.

C needed new ways in which to promote the other sites associated with TSR on TSR. In the words of pig (one of our admin):

    - It's nothing to do with the mods at all
    - It was my idea and I wrote it
    - It was preferrable to the suggestion that the moderators promote the site
    - It's essential for the survival of the site

    The bot posts on threads:
    - In academic or any of its subforums
    - Haven't been replied to
    - Are older than 24 hours
    - Are younger than a week (otherwise it would have bumped a lot of old threads)

I hope this answers your questions.

Just seen my first one and think they are awful. You get advertising shoved down your throat everywhere these days, and now TSR is joining the bandwagon.

They haven't been implemented to keep up with a craze, they are essential for the survival of the site.

Subs pay for an ad-free site, so I'm quite understandably pissed. When my sub runs out, I doubt I'll renew it.

Surely it should be made so subs can't see it? Otherwise, the subs just not worth it.
