How much money including your money for rent do you have to live off per month ? Most people have said 5/600 that just about covers it (food, rent, phone bill, books, socialising)

Ideally id like answers about peoples first year when they were in halls

I'd say £500 is plenty!! (I don't spend anywhere near that much lol). My halls are around £275 a month self catering....the rest is food and socialising etc.

It might sound cliche but a LOT of it depends on whether you're a big drinker or not, my mates who drink a lot are always totally broke. I'm not that keen on it (although I always accompany them!) so I have a lot more free cash so to speak.

£500 is enough including your rent?

I was planning £500 without rent... Guess I overestimated a bit. Thanks!

Your rent all depends on where you go but I tend to spent about £600 a month. Its just under £400 for rent and £50 a week for the other stuff. The £50 per week actually varies a bit week to week.

I suppose it varies by city but if you assume that there's 4 weeks in a month and you have £225 left after rent, that's £56 a week. I don't eat that much and I don't get trashed every night so it's plenty for me lol. As I said mates of mine struggle on £100 a week.....because a "good" night out can run to £30 or £40

Well put it this way i whought id experiment and not budget aand just go all out and wound up spending an easy grand a month which has got me into the mother ****er of all holes so if you wanna live ok go for 500 a month sounds like a reasonable amount.
