Jaffa Cakes

I think I need help.

The problem is that I'm addicted to Jaffa Cakes.

I have a reasonably healthy 3 meal a day diet, with not many snacks...until I see Jaffa Cakes. I HAVE to buy as many as I can if there's none at home, then I start eating as many as possible. Usually between 25-50 a day when I see them.

I feel sick if I don't eat them, then when I do I feel better.

Any advice? This is really getting me down as I'm bound to start putting on weight soon

PS this has been going on for about 6 months now, about 5 times a week.

:frown:

It's okay cos they only contain 1 gram of fat.
YEa jaffa cakes are nice. Mmmm, try to eat bananas or something, or another fruit you like.
Jaffa Cakes are gorge, there's a new flavour out, lime, but it's a bit sickly.

Guys I need serious help here, in all the other topics you've helped people out so can't you please do the same here?
I did, eat fruit instead. or just do more exercise so you can eat jaffa cakes
Have you tried stopping eating them altogether? Not being sarky here btw, just wondered if you'd tried going cold turkey and what happened!
I did that before, I had about 20 Jaffa cakes a day... just don't buy them.

Hmm... I'm a fellow jaffa cake lover. I usually eat about 2-3 at lunch and dinner, so that's about 6 a day, 8 tops.
It's a very hard thing to give advice on. The only way you can stop doing this is just by exerting some serious self-control and going cold turkey. Maybe you should do what I do - space out your jaffa cake consumption instead of binging on the things.
I think you have a serious addiction. It's not necessarily the case of putting on weight but that's a lot of sugar you're taking in. I can't really say much about the feeling sick when you don't eat them, other than I have heard people being addicted to sugar, particularly chocolate. Have you considered seeing you're doctor?

Get someone to hide them after you buy them. Or make sure you don't carry enough money to buy a packet when you see one.

i can understand this completely, although my jaffa cake problem doesnt sound as severe as yours i can eat a whole packet very easily.

part of the reason why your finding you feel sick or have withdrawal symtoms is that they have an addictive agent/substance (whatever you want to call it) in them

so do pringles hence "once you pop you can't stop" is actually surprisingly true!!

it is also the same of mcdonalds (ever watch supersize me he had the same addicted problem)

the company puts it in its very mild and helps there sales as when people see them they buy them etc eat the whole packet quickly and buy another one.

it isn't serious if your not happy with it try cutting down slowly or buying less tubes of jaffa cakes good luck

Just don't buy them. If you live at home, don't do your food shopping, get someone else to do it and don't let them buy any. That's how I avoid pigging out at uni - if I don't have stuff, I can't munch all day!

Seriously though, it's not a physical addiction, it's just that you like the taste. You won't die without them. There are far worse things to be addicted to.

Why don't you phone the Jaffaholics helpline on the side of the box?

Have done this- just for fun, they sent me a whole information pack and booklet about jaffa cakes, very informative.

By any chance are you equally addicted to Own Brand jaffa cakes, like Sainsbury's own? or does it have to be the real McCoy for you?

really?
Yeah, it wasn't about being addicted though. The number just takes you through to the universal McVite's phone line help they use for all their products, like Hob Nobs!

Just a promotional pack, you know the drill, ' we are so great, healthy and we save the planet at the same time, buy our products! '

I often used to write letters to producers when I was little, most were just ignored, but sometimes they sent me free products and once I got a whole box of Walkers Crisps!

I think I may start doing it again. . .
