I can't stop crying!!!!

Argh!!!! everyday, i feel like i want to cry, or i do cry...

and it's driving me insane, cos i really don't want to!

i think it's probably stress, i've got second year exams in 2 weeks, and maybe cos my boyfriends leaving at the end of this term for a year, and the fact i'm my flat by myself revising all day, when i'm used to a lot of ppl around me all the time...also i've jsut noticed my periods late, to add to things...

can any1 give me some ideas what to do? i can't take like a day off, or even an afternoon/morning off, there's no way i can finish all my work as it is...

but i gotta stop this crying thing...it's interfering with my work!!!! (i'd like to say lol, but seriously, it is!)

thanku

Take your mind off all your problems. Go out with some friends, have fun and forget about everything. Just enjoy yourself love.

Oh I understand how you feel.

Um, I think you should really take an afternoon off though. Go somewhere with your friends and just..have some fun and don't think about school and all your problems. Then you'll feel better and will be able to start concentrating on your work. Trust me.

do something totally distracting for an hour or so. i started doing aerobics classes at uni this term and i found that because i'm concentrating (and dying a little bit) i forget whatever was getting me down and i always feel beter adterwards

I've cried a lot the past couple of days too :hugs: just make sure you take a break and do something to make yourself happy every day!

Watch a really sad film. Get all your tears out and get on with stuff as normal. I swear it works! (may I suggest A Walk To Remember if you're a chick flick girl like me)

aw don't worry
its proabably stress, I used to sometimes randomly burst out crying in my GCSE year at school due to pressure, and I still do sometimes now because of As pressures.
The main is to focus and look at positives :hugs:

Are you depressed and feel like crying, or is it just tears without the sad feelings?

You sound like you are under a lot of pressure, which could be causing the tears, and the crying is actually making things even worse, and stressing you out more.

Try to relax about your whole situation, and the crying in particular - the less you care about whether you cry or not the less stressed you will be and hopefully the less you will cry (I think thats something I learnt in psych last year, can't remember role of control anyone?) and do take a break - it will be better in the long run as when you come back to your work you will be better able to work.

I don't know what you do to de-stress, but last summer when I was on study leave and needed a break I would take the dog for a walk and it really helped to get the blood pumping, making me feel more alert, as well as clearing my head. Exercise gives you endorphins, so should help you feel better too. If you haven't got a dog and can't beg borrow or steal one - they are really good to talk to too, if you can't face talking to people at the mo - try to do some form of exercise, other methods of de-stressing like eating a lot of chocolate or having a long soak in the bath can lead to wallowing and make you feel a bit morose when you're down, so they might not be the best thing right now.

I'm in the same boat. My problem is in the mother of all probles thread in this forum. Sounds a bit wussy but ive been in tears almost every day for the last 5 days. I can't handle this pressure. I can't talk to my girlfriend a the mo bcause she has her best friend visiting who she hasnt seen for 2 years so i dont want to push my problems on her when shes so happy. As i write this i'm in tears just thinking about it. I really cant handle this ****.

If you're stressed about work take an afternoon off and go for a run or swim. Your brain needs time to organise all the information your putting in anyway, and studying all day and night is really not going to help you at all. You can only do what you can do. Seriously, there's no point getting ill over it

hope this helps x

Aww hun! I went through the same thing a few months ago...I didnt get into any of my unis for medicine and it really bummed me out...I wasnt expecting to be so sad...on top of that I had a few annoying Module results which were so weird and my beloved duck barry died :frown: very emotional time for me
I just kept crying...i really felt bad...especially for my boyfriend because I feel I was just pouring it all out on him and he wasnt ready for a depressed 17 year old! Anyway I feel sad that I had to put him through all of that...I can imagine myself being a nightmare!

Anyway my parents are docs and mum diagnosed me with mild depression....which was shocking....I think I overcame the large part quickly and now Im taking medication (herbal!!)

But seriously...I found talking about it to close relatives/friends really helps! Even if it results in crying... maybe find an outlet to express your emotions...I screamed alot!? Try something healthier like running or some physical activity...then u can be sad and get fit!!

I dont really know what else to say!? Watch alot of happy films/tv...friends helped....just funny stuff! DONT LISTEN TO SAD MUSIC!! that screwed me up big time!

Good luck hun! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I can relate, there are times where I feel the need to cry, or have "dry tears" - occasions where I don't actually cry, but my mindset is similar to when I do, due to feeling alone and being unable to express my secret feelings and personality to anybody close around me, as well as having never experienced love or close intimacy with anyone, which often eats away at me during loneliness. I find that having a good time temporarily allows me to forget my problems, but they always return in the solitude of the four walls of my own bedroom, so perhaps, depending on your problems, it may be best to consider them directly rather than burying them - e.g. with stress you can talk it through with somebody else to reduce the sense of being overwhelmed. Good luck!

yeah, the period thing is probably caused byt the same thing as the crying, i wouldn't stress too much about that. if you miss another one then get it checked out but if you use protection then you should be fine. just spend a bit of time on you. decide what your absolute favourite things are and do them. i know it seems like you're skiving off the work, but it's more productive in the long-run as then you can use your time more productively.
