I am after views for my final disseration.

MODS PLEASE DON'T DELETE IT IS FOR UNI WORK, EVEN IF IT IS ABOUT SEX!!!!

PLEASE DON'T ADD ANY GRAPHIC, EXPLICIT COMMENTS AS I DON'T WANT IT DELETED!!!

IS BRITAIN READY TO LOOSEN IT'S CENSORSHIP BELT.

I would appreciate any views, comments, if you think there is too much sexual imagery in media, esp. tv, not enough or just right. How you think it effects people. The watershed issue. The issue of showing Gay relations. anything relevant, my dissertation has to be based on public opinion as well as my own strong views!!

On the Pay To View "soft" porn channels, do you think they should be able to show more than they do, as people are giving their consent to watch it, by paying for it, not just any one can tune in???.

    THANKYOU!!!!!!!

right, obviously different parts of media have different amount of explicit information. For example, on the radio there is not much at all anyways the problem of this freedom to put all sexual material is that there are always problems if you increase and decrease the sexual contents in lets say tv. It is a very complex arguement, involving political social economical....etc basically everything and whats worse they link together too..e.g. an increase in economical welfare due to lots of porn will lead to social problems which leads to political problems etc. I cant go into deitals at the moment as i am working on this geography thing, but ill write something more later..

I think if it's "pay to view" you are obviously consenting and so such channels should be showing what is demanded by the viewers and not what is deemed acceptable by the censors.

Well, to be honest, i don't have any real issues with censorship. I don't have a problem with it particularly at the moment, although some of the censorship for political reasons (which i don't thinks the point of this thread), is annoying.
But it is important to have some level of decency, but, on balence, i think the current state of censorship is just about right. People are always going to have opinions either way, either more or less, but at the moment its stopping indecency while not being too prudent either.

I don't really have a problem with censorship. I think that there are way more rudey-nudey pics of women about than there are of men, the only ad I've seen with a naked man on is the Lacoste one (Mmmm btw!!). Think there's more of an issue with swearing and violence than there is with sexy stuff. Think it's a bit sad that it's acceptable for radio preseters to be swearing all the time, I know it's not really hardcore language but words like 'arse' and 'bloody' are splashed around all over the place at peak times. Personally I don't find it offensive but I don't think it helps younger people all that much. As for sex, on normal tv it's not offensive at all, but they only ever show people in bed together as part of an affair storyline, never to show a successful loving relationship. Hope this has helped, sorry if it hasn't!!

You are so right about the radio thing, I have been so discusted listening to radio 1 during the day at what you hear, doesn't bother me, but kids listen some of the time I am sure. Although there is a big difference in Radio 1's midweek and weekend daytime shows!! I think you do see the affairs more so, but that isn't the only time you see it, there are times when it's a long term loving couple, depends on the programme really!!

Its basically stopping stuff from being broadcasted or published in whatever form (TV, Magazine or whatever). Usually on some grounds of decency (which is why porn isn't on ITV at lunchtime, for example).

In the context I am looking for, basically not alowing just anything to be shown , i.e. covering up genitals, not showing intercourse.

Britian is full of do-gooders that would think that doing the washing up is obscene. Why is it any supprise that we have one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates in the world. Even higher than liberal Scandanavian countries.

    THANKYOU!!!!!!!
