A marina hires out boats on a daily basis, the mean number of boats hired per day is 15. Using a normal approximation for a poisson distribution find for a period of 100 days:
a)How often 5 or less boats are hired
b)How often 10 boats are hired
c)How many times will customers have to be turned away if only 20 boats are owned.

This is what I can remember from the top of my head - it may well be wrong !!!
X~Po(15), but for 100 days X~Po(1500)
Y~N(1500,1500)

hmmmmmm, do the questions mean per day or in 100 days??

I think they are for the period of days. I got as far as you, my main problem I know how to tackle the problem its just not coming out...

yeah, it is very bizarre that it should want you to model it for 100 days, what is the point?! I shall have a think, but something tells me I'm not gonna get very far, I really do not like stats!
