Hi,does any one have any website giving detailed information on "pharmacy pre-registeration year" particulary..None of the websites in this forum give info abt the number of hours/week for pre-reg year....can any1 tell if the pre-reg year has to be done immediately after we finish the 4-year degree OR we can have a gap year after our degree and then do pre-reg year??? and also how many minimum hours per week are requirement of pre-reg year..i heard that sum places allow part time pre-reg training too?is that true....
    Thanks!!!!!

From the documentation I have here from the RPSGB (www.rpsgb.org.uk):

The RPSGB's byelaws require that pre-registration training is full time (not less than 35 hours per week) and for a period of no less than 52 weeks. The majority of trainees work between 35 and 40 hours per week but the Society's council recommends a maximum of 45 hours per week (although this is not dictated as the Society is specifically barred from dictating employment terms and conditions (it's a regulator rather than a union).

Total annual leave (holiday and sickness) is allowed up to a maximum of 6 weeks in practice (does not specify whether this includes statutory holidays - bank/public holidays).

My own pre-reg place is for 1 year from 31st July 06, including 5 weeks holiday during the contract (hospital pharmacy).

Forgot to mention - you can take a break and do whatever you want and come back and do your pre-reg year (AFAIK) - but you may find it more difficult to get a place if you apply say 5 years after your graduation (as well as perhaps finding it more difficult to pass the registration exam).

You could maybe apply for a pre-reg place but make it clear that you will be wanting the place for the year after (if you wanted to take just a 1-year gap-year?).
