itchy gums

hi,
basically my gums just above my two front teeth are itchy. it has been like this for a couple of days durig which time ive had a bad cold. cud this be why my gums are itchy? also for the past two weeks or so ive been using a new whitening toothpaste, cud this be the cause? im just confused because i brush my teeth at least twice a day and they are in good condition so i shudnt think it is plaque or gum disease or anything?

no it didnt so i guess that must be the reason. it just seems weird. i used the same toothpaste a while ago.ive also started using an electric toothbrush so i guess the combination of the two cud be the cause. i just wondered if something like toothpaste cud cause the itching?

Its perfectly possible, might have some ingredient which you're not reacting to particularly well, I'd try the old toothpaste and see if the problem goes?
