I had hypnotherapy to help with agoraphobia and found it really effective (although I was also taking Prozac at the time, so it might have been a combination). I basically had three sessions, in which the therapist would basically relax me and then I guess implant ideas in me, haha, although I was conscious for the whole thing. Just really relaxed. She taped the sessions, and I listened to them every night in between sessions. It really did help, so I'd recommend it, but I think it might be quite expensive.
Yes, it does work. My dad has done work with Paul McKenna, and the test of the classes was to get people over different (but common) phobias, such as spiders, needles and heights.

And go on the volunteer scheme for Paul McKenna, you get to be a guinea pig for amateurs, but it's cheap!!

I don't know about improving your memory though, as hypnotherapy tells your mind that something is true or false, like your fear of spiders is false, or a toy car is infact your 911 turbo (Top Gear!). Check with the hypnotist first, as you may end up getting there, telling them what you want and be dissappointed.

i had hyponotherapy to improve my confidence becuase i had to do a presentation. I had three sessions and they done nothin apart from cost me £120. Im not saying it doesnt work though. I have seen on tv how people have overcome fears from having hypnotherapy so i still belive it works but i might of just not believed enough at the time of my treatment or something. In the end i had to deal with the situation myself and it was scary but i done it and found i was more confident in doing it by myself.
i had hypnotherapy to help me - i suffer from a couple of things low latent inhibition and obsessive compulsive disorder - i wouldnt say it was the reason for rescuing me from my obsessive compulsiveness - that was cos my friends were starting to abandon me and i have a strong will power!
Here's the thing, it works if you're open to it and believe it will work.

Ive had it, aslong as you use the tips and techniques your hypnotherapist shows you, you should notice an improvement/difference.
