I intended to join as a signaller, but I think I've had a lucky escape now. Didn't join the army to sit in a truck all day. If I was to join as a solider I don't think I would have ended up in the infantry, even though that's what I want to do.

Lol fair play, not really my idea of good fun is sitting in the back of a wagon listening in on the net either. That's why I love the infantry though, because despite the stagging on, the wet, cold and hunger, you know that soone nough there's going to a phat attack which makes it all worthwhile. That's the job satisfaction for me

Had all the uniform since November, but I've had to scrounge helmets and the like ever since. Doesn't look like I'll get helmet and resi actually issued to me permanently, currently having to sign out the kit from a unit in Manchester when I need it.

No. Every serviceman/woman in the regulars get issued their own personal helmet and respirator along with all the basic field kit you will need, on initial kitting. If you need anything more specialist that gets issued or scrounged later on.

I'm supposed to get issued the kit but my unit doesn't want to issue it to me.

Army Politics that's all it is stopping me getting the kit I need for my training.

Signals isn't just sitting in the back of a truck. Hell, you can jump out of planes or join an armoued squadron.

Of course, i'm biased because i'm a comms geek.

Well I haven't had any problems and have had the full issue bar my second combat jacket which hardly anybody gets now it appears. Even instructors at ITC haven't been issued one combat jacket, let alone two!

I've been told we don't get 2 combat jackets issued, and that the regulars only get 1 issued. I've got double the kit anyway from being in the ATC. Good job really as the kit I've been issued is too big for me.

I'm a TA officer cadet, however I haven't done any of the boards yet, still get to wear the RMAS capbadge though.
