Alabama professor murders: anti death penalty arguments

http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/ex-professor-due-in-court-in-alabama-university-shooting-that-killed-3-people-wounded-3-more/2012/09/24/8fdfeeec-061b-11e2-9eea-333857f6a7bd_story.html

3 outstanding members of the community executed in cold blood for frivolous reasons. I'm not saying she should get the death penalty (noone does, it's wrong) but if she was black she would of 100% got the death penalty. Alabama routinely executes black people for single murders (she did three) and even black people with IQs as low as 55 (she has a degree from Harvard). Goes to show that the death penalty is not applied fairly and can lead to racism in the form of disproportionate executions.

The states that are the proponents of capital punishment are the ones with the highest proportion of violent crimes. Not much of a deterrent - especially when you factor in the predispositions of mental illness or handicaps.
