accommodation leeds met: liberty park

hey iv just sent my application for my accommodation and chose liberty park. mainly goin on what it looks like from the website and it being quite near to the centre. i will be studying at headingley campus and was wondering if any1 could tell me more about liberty park. what the areas like, how lively is it and also how long it takes to get to headingley campus from there. i looked at kirkstall brewery on the open day and was abit put off by the area and how far away it was from the centre. thanks if any1 can tell me about liberty park.

Hi, yeah I'm looking at liberty park to. I'm also studying at the headingley campus but am some what put off by kirkstall for the same reasons as you, coz its so far from the city center.

I found this page witha bit more info on liberty.. http://www.accommodationforstudents.com/largerprivatestudenthousing/lphs.asp?id=109 The things I'm concerned about applying to liberty park is that I have read there is camera's everywhere and being private accomodation its not only for first years.. What do you think about this?

I'm considering opal court as it seems, although more expensive, slightly better but I have no idea about how strict security and stuff is because this is going to be the first time people live there!

Oh the decisions!!

I'm considering Liberty Park too. It has couples in there, mature students, and students from both Leeds Met and Leeds Uni too so should be a laugh. It wont be as wild as Kirkstall though but I hear it's really good from what everyone has said.

To get to the Headingly Campus I think it's 25 min walk. The Civic Quarter campus, where I am based, is only 10 mins away. I'm studying at the Electric Press Building in Millenium Centre (Film and TV Prod). Plus with nights out and all, it aint so bad hard to stumble home so saving alot on travel there.

Here's what RKO1 had to say:

liberty park is ok, pretty plain lookin walls and **** but ive had a right laugh with my mates this year, so if you wanna move there then i think you'd enjoy it, umm havent got no pictures of it, but i wud reccomend it for city accom. tho the en-suite toilets are a bit small for shower space, as least u get one!

peace

im thinking of opal court or mill street. got to have a look around liberty park on the open day and the ensuite is tiny! its like a portaloo in ur room so that put me off. opal court should be good - especially as its still being built i think so will be nice and new! whats everyone studying?

Hope Masterplanner doesn't mind this but I felt everyone should know

Masterplanner
hey, i went looking around last wednesday, it was only a quick tour because it was closing at 4. they split liberty park into 3 sections, leeds met, leeds and private, leeds met has the biggest block. the rooms are bigger than they look on that website and so is the kitchen/living room, you get a fridge microwave and cooker plus all your bills as you probably know. i didnt manage to ask about the internet or get any photos, the ensuite is quite small, but looking at them others from opal court its about the same, maybe a touch smaller. its next to a hotel and 2 casinos pluse a chinese restaurant and its about 5-10 min walk from the civic quarter. its nothing like a prison, the staff are dead nice and the on site laundrette is modern. you have a key fob i didnt notice any cameras so its not like big brother.

theres a health centre round the corner so im not to bothered about this gym thing

i dont mind at all!

Does anyone need a room at Liberty Park this year? I booked a room but changed my mind, which means my room is free. I already paid deposit too. YOU NEED TO BE AT OR GOING TO LEEDS ARTS UNI, tho. Tell me if you need it.
