I made this programme...I hope it works. Just click "Show Taskbar".

Virus scan and then unzip it first of course.
Thanks - what exactly does it do?

If it goes wrong it's your fault!!!

Did it work? It's some Visual Basic code - essentially it just uses the registry to show or hide the taskbar.

This could be either:

something crazy like the screen display area has been moved so the taskbar is off the bottom

corrupted shell

some registry problem

some program being run at startup that's preventing the taskbar from showing
your avatar is most bodaceous

I'm a bit scared to just go deleting stuff though...i might wait until monday and take it to the IT people here and see if they can sort it for me. I mean its not unusable, just a tad annoying.

If you want. Its quite hard to screw things up unless you go completely crazy though.
Trust me i could probably manage to do something bad!!! Thanks very much for your help though, and everyone else. I don't get why it went though, I thought it would just be a simple error on my part but obviously not!!!

well, i reckon u might as well give it a shot with ur laptop, and if that doesnt work, just run repair installation. if u laptop is only a few months old, it should do an installation in an hour, and should also un-do the prob. if that fails, backup all ur stuff, and do a format installation via the xp installation disc. simplest way round these problems!
