theres a guy i like and about a year ago i was told he liked me but i wasnt sure, then not long after that apparentyl he had a secret girlfriend. i dont really see him much anymore but we talk on msn and he's flirty but really inconsistent. i cant work out if hes being a tease and knows i like him or if he actually likes me but thinks i knocked him back.
im sooooo confussed.

yeah just ask him. if you don't see him much then whats the worst that can happen? he says no, and you never have to see him again!

Its the perfect sentence if you dont want to come out pathetic. If you are so worried about looking desperate then your never going to get anywhere unless they ask you out first. And with a personality trait like that....

You could be more subtle than that. Just make it obvious that you are attracted to him and if he responds in turn you will know. It's pretty easy. You could end the MSN conversatino with a kiss and see if he responds as well. There is no need for rash measures. But ultimately you DO need an answer, so you might need to get pretty blunt :P

i guess i just have to be confident and ask.
