Socs fed at Fresher's week, there'll be info there. I *think* it applies for all strings, that you don't need to audition (as opposed to some other instruments) so you can just turn up to the first rehearsal.

    From the website:

Q: How do I get involved?

A: It couldn't be easier! Simply turn up at the Butterworth Hall at 7.00pm on Tuesday week 1 (27 September 2005) for the first rehearsal of term. All you need to bring is you and your instrument, although the Music Centre can supply some instruments if you have difficulty bringing your own. Just pop into the Music Office and speak to the Music Secretary to see if we can help you.

Q: Do I need to audition?

A: If you're a string or percussion player, then the answer is no; we welcome all string players. The string desks are ordered by the Coull Quartet over the course of the year.

If you're a woodwind or brass player then you are welcome to participate in the Free Concert without auditioning. However, following this if you wish to continue playing you will be required to take part in a friendly, informal audition. This is absolutely nothing to worry about, and will consist of a prepared piece of your choosing and a piece of sight-reading.
