It doesn't have to be taken again but you can't do your practical without it FULL STOP. What you have to do is call up DVLa and say you lost BOTH parts of the license as it's easier to replace that way.

Thanks for your advice, I've been panicking all today and yesterday searching everywhere for it. Could you explain why saying I've lost both parts is easier to get replaced?

You shouldn't say that you've lost both bits if you haven't.

BUT - if you tell them that you've just lost one bit, then you need to send the remaining bit off in the post along with the application fee and money and then they will send you a replacement licence (paper + card). If you ring up and say that you've lost both bits, then they'll take payment over the phone by card and then send you out both replacement bits straight away.

So it may be easier for you to 'lose' the bit you have left, then call them for a complete replacement. You do this at your own risk and of course i do not condone such behaviour!

if you've taken your theory test, then you should have a seperate 'theory test pass certificate' should you not?

Yeah I've got everything: counterpart, theory certificate all except the photocard ahhh!

As has been said, just ring up and say tell them that you've lost you licence and they will tell you how to sort out getting a new one. Its up to you if you want to lose your paper part as well......

You don't condone what behaviour? Are you a civil servant or something? Do everything by the book do you? You must be a fun guy to hang around with.

I think bending the rules once in a while is ok? It's hardly being caught with 30 kilo's of crack cocaine in your boot is it?

Yea this happend to me as well, like everyone else pretty much said phone them up and tell them you lost it. Saying you lost both parts is a lot less hassel for you and if you feel really guilty:rolleyes: just burn/dispose of the part you do have.
