I visited both- I'm doing either Classical Studies and French or French and Portuguese at KCL, and I also have an offer from QMUL for French and Spanish. I don't know about your subject. However, my impression, with regard to the French part of my possible courses, is that KCL is academically better- for example, there is the expectation at KCL that classes are taught in French wherever appropriate, but this seems not to be the general pitch at QMUL- KCL has a higher rating in French, and an excellent rating in Classics, and in Iberian languages- 3rd in both cases.

As to the environment, QMUL is in the East End- near Mile End and Stepney- these are pretty gritty areas on a good day. Even if the facilities are good at QMUL, and I've heard there is a lot of new building going on, the area is depressing. KCL at the Strand is not drop dead gorgeous, but it's nice enough, the Union is good, the Maughan Library is marvellous, and the area's busy, but fine.

I hope this helps and good luck with your choices, it is a bit scary making them.

On an objective basis, KCL 'wins' hands down.

However, when you get to Uni you realise the real importance of subjectivity, for want of a better word. If possible, visit both Unis, both departments, both areas etc... there's no better way to test the water.

have you thought of Royal Holloway?

It's better than QMUL in management (and in the overall ranking)! Maybe the management course at KCL has a better reputation but the RHUL school of management is also very good!

Regarding your question.. in an academic way.. KCL is better than QMUL for sure.. In what concerns about socialising I cant give an opinion cause I have never visited KCL or QMUL..
