Certainly - it is acceptable for Front Office aswell.

Can a degree in Accounting and Finance at Warwick give me a good possibility to get into IB (with enough work experience and extra curricular activities), and if so, into Front Office? Or is a Economics degree really necessary?

In addition, for work in Back Office and Operations, would an Accounting and Finance degree from a top10 university for Accounting and Finance be acceptable?

Thanks

I am sure it would be good enough for the Back Office and Operations. I am not sure about the Front Office. If you have something like Economics/Maths from Warwick then it would be good enough for the Front Office aswell.

Really ? A&F is completely "on-topic", as in related, and Warwick's pretty good. On the other hand, I don't know how exactly it compares to LSE etc.

Im doing AccFin at Warwick and got a front office job lined up..

admitedly, most of the people from my course that i know are working at a Big 4 company but really i believe that if you are doing this course and have the right mix of extra curricular and academics you will not have any trouble at all getting interviews in any of the ibanks..

It just so happens that most of the people on my course dont seem to be as ambitious as me nor as interested as i am in investment banking...

Would you say they are not as ambitious as you because they are not pursuing a career in IB?

Hello

I wanted to know what replies what people have been getting from warwick and lse for accounting and finance a&f so far. also what grades they applied with???

I have already done my A-levels and have 3 As (physics, chemistry, maths) and B (G.STUDIES) and an AS-level A grade in Biology. I am also taking an AS in further maths.

Will my application stand out as i already have my grades to hand?

is it a big deal that i do not have a humanities A-level?

please people...those who got replies...what grades did u get???

Thanks

cya
Accounting and finance is fine for front office positions. I think it's now CFA level 1 accredited, unlike LSE's course.

Im doing AccyFin at warwick (it is CFA level 1 accredited) and I have an offer for investment research at a BB. Yes, some people don't view research as FO, but it's definitely not back office.

Didn't do a-levels, did an international foundation course (if anyone knows what it is). I know a few people on my course who have been interviewing for IBD. And yes, BIG 4 Is the most common choice.

Something to note: in economics you will obviously be taking maths modules.. You won't have any if you take AccyFin at warwick.

Economics >>>> A&F. Though this degree can give you a shot. It's mainly the Economists/Mathematicians that land the FO's at Warwick!
This should be in the sticky thread - also it's ancient
