Face down is best for not getting completely soaked. I know it's hard to get water in the mouth/nose this way, but I reckon you'd still get a damp face. Probably easier to learn to cope with washing your face.
you can wash your hair in a sink, its what iv done when unable to shower.

If you have a bath with a shower attachment, you can wash your hair by putting your head in the bath and washing it with the shower bit. Or try washing your hair in a sink. How do you wash your face, though?!
Try washing it upside down, as in you lean over the bath tub with your head facing the wrong way. I've been doing that for years, and it works.

Seriously Guys? Have you never heard of a flannel? You wet it and ring it out so it's not soaking wet, then you wipe your face.

That. Is. Brilliant.
I have the same issue i hate getting water on my face as i am scared of not being able to breathe, i usually keep the shower head low so its quite close to me but not close enough to touch my head and lean my head backwards and let the water run that way, that stops all the water from getting on my face

I hate getting water in my eyes, ears, nose and generally on my face.

I only wash my hair once a week because of this, I hate washing it.

I have one of those hats that go around your head but I still get water on my face.

Does anyone have any tips to stop the water running onto my face when i'm in the shower?

You could try using earplugs and goggles? Maybe that would be a good start to getting used to it and eventually being okay with it?
