now i've finally accepted edinburgh as my first choice i was wondering how much money i'm going to need in order to survive while i'm at uni. how much a week for food? going out? clubs and societies? and the all important freshers week?
if people who are already at uni could give me an idea of how much on average thy spend per week at uni it'd be a big help as i desperately need to know how much i'll need and start saving.

Freshers week is no doubt the biggest week in terms of what will dent most into your money, that and the rush before Christmas.

Allocate around £150 for the Freshers Week; this will cover drinks, (they'll be mega cheap, but you'll be having lots of it), tickets, and the joining of Clubs/Soc's.

As for food, you should be able to live on £25 per week in food if you shop sensibly.

Other than food, another £25 per week on keeping yourself amused.

Any travelling to do ? Set aside another £7 p/week for a Megarider or equivalent for your local bus company, which I believe is First, in Edinburgh.
