Oooh they'd both be cool, but I chose casino theme, because I can't think of anything better than poker and cocktails
Casino night sounds good.

Casino! Can I come? I make a kick ass cosmopolitan.

Casino style, altho by the end of the night when everyone is pissed the poker will almost certainly turn into strip poker...it always does
Casino sounds more laid back and will probably take less effort, although a murder mystery over dinner huh? *steals idea*

My friends have a had a few murder mystery parties, they rock cos you get to dress up in funny outfits haha. Seriously, I think a murder mystery has more potential for hilarity.

I think murder mystery would appeal more for a civilised evening of entertainment. For drunken birthday enjoyment, definitely Casion night. Although I've never been to a murder mystery event so am not 100% familiar with what it involves.

Hence me voting for a casino night! I was outlining the reason I didn't think murder mystery was a good idea.

Murder mystery all the way!
The costumes would be amazing, and if you're as into Ag Christie as me and my friends are, it would be lots of fun!

Although, with the casino themed night, you could play strip poker...

You buy a murder mystery party 'kit' thing with instructions.
Murder mysteries are so much fun! Only problem is if people say they can't come at the last minute. I had to pull out of my friend's murder mystery party, and she ended up having to be my character as well hers. Then again, apparently that just added to the hilarity, especially with the switching of accents.
