Your BMI (Body Mass Index) is 19, which means you classify as Normal.

But what does this have to do with your body fat %? AFAIK there's no way you can actually calculate this without physically stepping onto a machine.

I should measure it some day.
well there is one method you could use to calculate the body fat percentage SLIGHTLY more accurately but its not THAT much accurate. THe method involves using calipers to measure different areas of the body body where fat normally accumulates eg the hipss, lower back arms etc and then comparing these values to data tables.....

The BMI is a load of *******s. A year ago I was a stone heavier than I am now and that put me well into the obese catergory, but I was thinner than I am now and I was a hell of a lot fitter. Rubbish I tell thee.

It isn't.

The BMI is a general indicator. It can be distorted by factors such as your fitness, workout schedule, etc. Which is why other factors such as your body fat % are taken into consideration when determining your fitness or the condition of your health.

The BMI is generally a pretty good indicator, except in the cases of people that do a lot of certain types of training and those who have bad lifestyle habits like smoking.

It also doesn't take into account whether you're male or female...women are supposed to have a higher % body fat, but I'm not sure what it is. 22% as opposed to men's 15? I seem to recall those figures from somewhere. They could be totally off the mark, though.

Mine's 18.79, which it says is normal.

Where can you go to get body fat measured?
I got 8% bodyfat when I checked with a bodyfat clipper 1 week ago.
I had 12% before joining the army.

Hence if you want to be fit join the airborne:smile:

Some gyms do it, but if not, your Dr/Dietician will

Well, my BMI is 27, which is overweight, however my body fat is 6% which is way below normal for my age. As already mentioned, everything depends entirely on the type of training you engage in. Resistance training and strength sports, that lead to muscle hypertrophy may often lead to the BMI not being a good indicator of your general health and fitness. Jean Claud Vandamme, for example, was himself classed as obese by BMI, as are the great majority of bodybuilders and strongman competitors.
18.51

Im happy with that.
One of the PTIs wants me to take the BMI test because I'm not as fit as I should be, but I know very well that I'm unlikely to lose weight If I do any sort of fitness training as I put muscle mass on very easily.

For me anyway BMI is a load of rubbish.
