Nah. My insurance was between Holloway and KCL and I chose KCL. Rhul looks awesome but there's little or no nightlife from what I hear on these boards and from friends who are there. The last train to london comes back to egham really early. One of my best friends is doing english and drama at Wawick though and is perhaps more in love with that course than he ever has been with anything/one/animal else. And his friend is doing drama at Royal Holloway so if you've got any questions my msn is [email protected] - will try and help you out.
To be honest I think a lot of this argument is down to repuation, I'll make my own fun where ever I go, and I'm sure there has to be a lot of people who are going there who feel the same. Egham is a reasonable town, so probably has a few clubs and pubs (I dont know for sure), and its not like I havent stayed out till 5.45 to get back home before, If I was to go out in London.

I think the arguments and so forth are bull****, I'm just going to make the most of it when I get there (If I get there!)

The union is actually pretty good, and it has a range of different nights, but it does get boring after a while. Egham itself is a quiet town with not a lot in it. So for that reason people go furthur afield. I've been to Oceana in Kingston but I know that a lot of people go to Liquid in Windsor on Thursdays (student nights). There are no clubs in Egham, or Staines (or at least I haven't heard that there are any in Staines).

There is a society which I suggest you join if you want good nightlife. It's called NADS (Nightlife and Drinking Society). They organise buses and so on to different clubs, and they'll take you back to RHUL. If you puke in the bus you have to pay £25, which is fair enough I think!

There isn't that many clubs and stuff, but that doesn't mean you won't have fun at night! I don't go outside of Egham for nightlife things, but I'm always having great evenings.

I'd say the nightlife is fine if you are willing to make the effort. Oceana on Mondays (theres a mini bus from rhul each week) and Wednesdays which are student nights. There is Liquid in Windsor on a thursday which costs about £2 each in a taxi to get there. There's also Vanilla in Windsor on wednesdays. Also, down the A30 there is Pantiles in Bagshot, student night is on wednesdays thats quite good. If someone you know has a car its much easier to get to places though if they are willing to drive! Theres always the union as well which is good for a laugh on big nights! It really is fine!

oceana as in the one in kingston?! so i'd be like going home? :| grr!
I've never had a problem with the supposed lack of nightlife. To be honest, the best nights I've had at Royal Holloway have been when I've just been at the pub with my friends, or drinking in the kitchen :p: or merely hanging in someone's room. I like the SU too, dancing to cheesy music, and only being 2 mins walk from home! I'm missing everyone from uni :frown: so looking foward to returning.

Doesn't really surprise me about the lack of nightlife considering where it is.
But at the end of the day I can think of a hell of a lot of other places that are worse to be...

Nightlife is pretty poor if you are simply a club person...there are enough pubs in Egham, Staines, Windsor to keep even the hardest of the hard core happy...personally I agree with MCR-Sugar the union is ok and there is always someone in halls to have a laugh with...Royal H aint like Warwick, Bham or Manchester where u have all the clubs on ya doorstep, but if you make the effort you will have a laugh.

Oh and Oceana is decent, expensive but so is the rest of London...
