Odd question...but I'm scared

Probably in the wrong place but it's to do with health...

My cat is oozing like a sort of gel, from the top of his head. We're booking an emergency vet appt tomorrow, but does anyone know what it might be? It's not blood, but looks stickier and more gel-like...and is a pale red colour. I'm worried, I've heard this can be a sympton of cancer? Does anyone know? I'm really scared :frown:

Is it coming from on orifice, or just from its' skin?

Maybe it's just a weeping sore? The stuff that comes out is blood mixed with some other bodily fluids...it's kinda sticky in texture. Is the cat acting ok otherwise though?

One of mine had a sore like that on his side last summer, it cleared up on it's own after a few days.

It could just be a cut that is just seeping some plasma...

Is it from cut or gash? If it's clear-ish, it'll just be the skin trying to repair itself and it'll be the white blood cells coming to the rescue!

Make sure he gets to the vets though - they'll be able to tell you exactly what's wrong. Keep an eye on him tonight: check that his appetite hasn't changed and that he's taking in plenty of fluid. Worth watching to make sure he isn't being sick or has diarrhoea.

Chances are, he was trying to impress a lady-cat by swinging from a branch and got a nasty scratch on the head from being over zealous!

Leading on from Angels' post, it could be a fibrinogen like substance, with some blood. In which case, its just a scab forming, and nothing to be worried about

I think it's from a cut or sore patch, something like that...he's washing it a lot, and trying to scratch it, which surely can't be good. He seems to be ok otherwise. He's had these sore patch type things before, and has had steroids for them, but the thing that worries me is it's not blood, but this red oozy gunk. Thanks for reassuring though! x
