I love a good tan. It doesn't really make sense when you think about it as they are unhealthy, but I do think they make you look nice and healthy. Maybe it's just my obsession with summer that makes me love them so much - they make everything seem more summery :p:

Yea or maybe they show that the person is outgoing, active rather than ill in a bed (as ill people tend to be pale)

i personally couldnt care less if a guy was pale or tanned as long as he doesnt look like hes been tangoed XD

Reply 5

Don't know. I personally don't like tanning cause I'm afraid to look old and wrinkley yucky.

I hate how its so easy to tell pale people to get a tan, especially if their skin just CAN'T tan. But if I told a dark person to lighten their skin somehow I'd be racist.

Ive never understood it although I admit they are, its just skin damage. What makes someone with a tan look nice/healthy  Does anyone here like pale skin?

*jumps up and down* I love pale girls. Yum. Orange girls are a turn off.

lol ..i know someone who looks just like him, i am not fond.

Good skin in general makes you look more attractive. A slight tan can help hide minor blemishes etc, and thus makes your skin look better as a whole.

Reply 10

looking burnt isnt too good however

Reply 11

lol I was wondering how long it would take for someone to mention racism

Reply 12

what racism?

Reply 13

Yea I don't get why some light-skinned people are so obsessed with getting a tan, but then again I'm that colour normally, in fact whenever I'm out in the sun my skin just ends up looking dirty

historically women always used all sorts of techniques to get their skins as pale as possible, that was considered beauty I guess because it lso showed that they were rich enough to be inside and not working the fields etc. Perhaps now some people find tans attractive because it is often assosciated with being able to afford holidays abroad etc. Thats the rather sinicle money oriented way of looking at things :P

Reply 15

I don't think tans are attractive, pale skin is much nicer, pale skin and dark eyes .

This is the one thing I find annoying about being pale - it shows up any imperfections and makes them look worse than they really are. I quite like my skin colour. I am v. pale; so pale that when I go to the beach on holiday people look at me like I am seriously ill.

I think tans are considered attractive because you always say people say you look ill (i.e. not attractive) when you're pale- therefore wouldn't the opposite be seen as healthy?
I dunno that's my logic to it lol.
