Stomach pains

Okay over the easter holidays i basically lost my usual digestive cycle due to getting up very late etc, although it was normally okay, until one night when i ate chicken at a restaurant, within 30 minutes i was getting severe stomach pains and just had to go to the toilet, 3 times within the next 1 hour. (I was also drinking white wine before this time but not much) Anyway Since then i have had stomach pains every morning and diarrhea, now a week later i'm finding i get severe stomach pains every morning for about 3 hours after i get up, they are just about okay so that i don't have to rush to the toilet but should this really be hapening??? And after those 3 hours the pains just disapeer until the next morning, even though i managed to not have diarrhea for the first time last night the pains were there again today.
Any ideas what this is and how to get rid of them?

If you have diarrhea for more than 48 hours you should see a doctor. Make sure you're taking on plenty of fluids.

This is not normal- if a week later you're still getting pains it seems unlikely they are caused by something you ate. Could be something like IBS or gastritis. Definately go and see your doctor.

i had a similar thing actually; i went on a hike and had diarrhoea in the morning at the campsite and then from then on i had it for a week. i was on medication for something else and it was meant to be in the fridge but i had it in my bag (nice and hot in there..). i suggest going to the doctor because its not normal and rememeber to drink fluids!!! i got dehydrated badly and fainted in class ,so dont let it happen to you! Also drink sprite or 7up if you cant eat anything cause it has some sugar to give you energy. but go to the doctor definately!!!! hope you feel better really soon xx

just remembered; theres this bug been going around recently, i know lots of people who have had diarrhoea, so it might be that bug..

It just seems a little weird it only happens every morning for a few hours and then the pains go away. And during that time if i do HAVE to go to the toilet its diarrhea, but after that time its not? My stomach sometimes makes a lot of noise during those 3 ish hours as well :\

Thanks, i hope i feel better too, if its not better by the end of the week then i will definitely be going to see my gp.

no go tomorrow! its been going on too long, if its a parasite or something, you're just letting it grow and grow (my friend had that last year thats why i said it could be that). x

It's quite possible to have IBS at 17- I was only 13 when I had mine diagnosed a year ago.

It just seems more likely that it could be something to do with the food you ate, as IBS doesn't normally just start like that, and certainly not coinciding with an incident like that.

Talk to your doctor about your symptoms, as diarrhoea for prolonged periods isn't good for you, as you'll lose a lot of water. Good luck!

I had that happen when i went skiing last year (didnt eat on coach trip for bout 20 hours) it was very painful as you described, but i forced myself to eat as much as i could at each meal, gradually building back up to how much i was eating before - it took about a week before i was eating normally again, by that time i was back home!

Wouldn't a parasite make it hurt at all times though, if it happened all day i would have been to see gp already, but the just mornings part is weird so i'm giving it a few more days to see if it just goes.
I'm eating and drinking normally, its not like normal diarrhoea whereas when you eat you need the toilet again, there must be another reason for it because of the way it happens every morning only..

My braces are off too btw suuuu

I had IBS when I was 15 and it sucked, majorly. Nowadays my main problem is with acid, as soon as it gets to exam time every year since GCSEs I've gotten immense stomach pains and had to go to the toilet every few hours :frown: All I can really do about it is to avoid acidy food and drink and carry around a pack of Antacids.

Seriously, go to the doctor already, there's clearly something wrong with you.
