Exhaustion

Every single day after school i am absolutly knackered. I've really got to start revising for AS's now, and at holidays/weekends i'm fine, but after school i really struggle to stay awake.
I'm already not doing my body any favours, i'm really weak, dont eat much, hardly drink water, and do no exercise. Besides from strong coffee (which has little effect) how can i make myself more alert and awake after school?
I do get 8hrs sleep (which is the maximum i can get a night), but i still get headaches and feel sleepy after school. I have a 1 hour jounery school-home which also doesnt help, but thats necessary.

Gahh this is really annoying me i'll get home from school and have a nap, which really isnt helping my revision. I'm meant to be revising now but i feel so tired.

Anyone?

Thats the cause. Resolve that

Drink a few pints a day at least, get fresh air, and eat more healthy. Cut the caffenine down too

Do you get up/go to bed the same time everyday regardless of what day it is? Try doing that for a few weeks (yep, even at weekends) to get your body into a routine. Also you need to be drinking more water, as you might be slightly dehydrated. Make sure you eat a good breakfast breakfast and proper meals every day to keep your enegy levels up- lots of fish, meat, fruit and veg. Doing some gentle exercise a few times a week might also help you sleep better and raise your enery levels.

If the problem continues after doing all this then see your doc- there might be a medical reason why you are feeling so tired all the time.

It could be some sort of disorder like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, but you would be permanently tired, even in the holidays too.

Talk to your parents, and see if they can help you at all and maybe speak to your doctor too. You could maybe start to gradually adjust your habits slightly, like eating a bit more to give you more energy, and drinking throughout the day.

If you start to feel tired even when not at school, or think it's to do with the quality of your sleep, in that case I'd go speak to your doctor to rule out CFS or a sleep disorder.

Good luck!

I go to bed at 11 and wake up at 7 every day of the week (yup weekends included), and have even been to school after a night out getting home at 6 and waking up at 7. I'm fine with mornings, it's just when i get home that i'm knackered.
I eat a big brekfast (normally fry up, or omlets) but dont feel hungry throughout the day at all until i get home when i'll have tea and bread and butter (for example).

I admittedly have a really poor diet, but hardley ever have an appitite and i am the worlds fussiest eater, so have never eaten much. I hate forcing myself to drink water when i dont want it, i literally gag and spit it out, i usually have a small glass a day though.
Gah i'm so screwed! I am starting to go running again this week so hopefully things will improve.

Maybe you could try something lighter for breakfast, like toast or cereal for example? I know it's boring, but I often fidn if I eat a large breakfast I'm not so hungry either, so I tend to eat a slightly smaller breakfast and then a bigger lunch. That way you can keep eating throughout the day and you don't just get one rush of energy in the morning.

Do you have to get up at 7 at the weekend, due to a job for example, or do you naturally wake up then?

Please stop doing this to people. The level of advise in this forum is shocking. Its very dangerous to tell people they may be very ill without prior medical knowledge or being a doctor. (if i could rep you it would be bad) Every single time someone even mentions being tired it CFS, for god sake, im tired now doesnt mean i have it. Please please stop guessing medical advise, some people can be very easily persuaded (not intented to OP)

OP you go not have CFS, its a hell of alot more complex than being tired.

But if i dont have a big brekfast i start feeling hungry at about 10ish, which i have no chance to eat in! When i'm on hols, i normally do eat a smaller brekfast (because i have to make it myself!), but then do get the chance to eat at about 10/11 something small, and have a big lunch/dinner at about 4/5

I have to wake up at 7 on a Saturday for music, and wake up about 7 on sundays naturally.

I really have tried eating less in the mornings but i dont get the chance to eat at school because school food is digusting and going out for lunch only produces junk food, which i dont eat, so i'm kinda screwed. I do sometimes take a sandwitch to school but only when i have room in my bag.

I have an essay to do for tomorrow and i just feel so lethagic (seriously, im not even trying to get out of doing it)

Dan: Im not that easily persuaded, nor a hypochodriac, so no i dont think i've got CFS, but i'm sure she was only trying to help!

You will feel hungry again at 10, thats a good sign the food u ate has worked its way in, and your metabolism has kick started which is also good.

i have to admit id like to know what makes me the same way, i have an essay to write at the moment, i just cant get myself to do it, and i feel worse by the minute.
I think its semi psycohological, i dont want to do it, so i make my self feel like this. Id perk up if someone tried to help me. i know this is the case, because im quite happy to look on the net than do my essay.
Maybe vitamin supplements might help, you may lack essentials, and it cause no harm to add some more.

I lack alot of exercise and maybe thats the cause, i felt amazing the day i went swimming for an hour. Maybe tiredness or muscle ache is a sign poor circulation or unrelease of nasty toxins.

(p.s im sure your not easily pursuadable, but the poster shouldnt be so careless, this is the second thread in a few days ive seen people just make random medical desicions for people. The lasy one the girl had CFS, lack of iron, diabetes, and god knows what else people had said)

I apologise, but even if the OP was very easily influenced, if they read the post and thought they had CFS as a result, I'm sure they would visit a doctor who would quash that thought. I didn't say that it was definitely that, and I did mention that if they suspected it was, they should visit a doctor.

There is also a warning that the advice given on this forum is not professional, therefore people should take it with a pinch of salt. OP- I'm sorry, and I didn't mean to unnecessarily worry you.

I swear i am so unhealthy but it will take so much effort to change. I never ever exercise but as i said i WILL start running this week (even though doing any sort of exercise makes me want to sleep for days).
Already on the vitamins, dont see any difference what so ever.

I this it all boils down to me being a runty small skinney weak person. I always have been, its really getting me down atm since i'm not going on two school trips i was planning to go on (skiing and outward bound) because im scared that i'll get exhausted and teachers will force me to carry on, and i wont be able to handle it, which is sad because everyone else is going and i feel so left out...ANYWAY...

GO AND DO YOUR ESSAY, and i'm off to do mine RIGHT NOW (shouting at myself is helping)

Agreed that medical advice shouldnt be given on this forum, and a few people could take it seriously and get panic-y but everything with a bit of salt.

Suuuuuuseh (took me a while to count the u's): Don't worry, you haven't worried me at all, and i do appreciate your advice and that you were trying to help, and of course i recoginise that this isnt professional help, thanks anyway.
