Squirrels ae vermin. Would you expect them to come if you had a rat in your loft?

Squirrels = rats with bushy tails.

The only way to remove baby squirrels from anywhere (doesn't work with adults) is to pretend you are a tree. No seriously. The baby seeing you as the nearest tree substitute should, give it time, climb up your leg and nestle in your armpit.

It worked for me when one got into my old school.

I don't care if it's vermin, it's an animal and they are NOT killing it!
I disagree

With what

That squirrels are vermin.
That pretending to be a tree works.
That the squirrel should be killed/should not be killed.

Shouldn't the RSPCA be wanting to rescue rather than kill an animal? You would think with the amount of money given to them every year they'd be able to help the poor thing. Just call them back, and say that you don't wana kill it and ask them what you should do.
Unfortunately grey squirrels are classed as vermin. If it was a red squirrel then it wouldn't be and the RSPCA would probably come and rescue it. Because greys are classed as vermin though they won't come and rescue it, and spend time and money on it. In fact some of the info I have read on them suggests that it is illegal to release a grey squirrel once you have caught on as it is vermin and shouldn't be (re-) released in to the wild. It is classed like rats etc, they wouldn't come and take a rat or mouse from you that you found in your garage (except pet rats and mice obviously.)

I personally don't agree with this, but thats they way they look at it. We had a pigeon in work one day and it was too high for us to reach to rescue it, the RSPCA wouldn't do anything, so they called pest control in and they shot it. I was very glad I wasn't in that day, I wouldnt have been happy!

Red spray paint to the rescue!
Catch it and sell it to a kebab shop. Go back in the next day and you'll have some even tastier donner meat.

Yeah that is correct, it is illegal to release a grey squirrel into the wild as it is classed as vermin by governmental law. So were the RSPCA to come out to it they couldn't release it, they would be lumbered with it and have to find it a home... all costing time and money, so they won't bother.
I like sync's idea. All you need to do, is catch the squirrel. paint it red, stick little red tufty bits on its ears and then take it to the RSPCA - problem solved.

Ah, wait.....if you can catch it you won't need them anyway!

remember to starve it a bit... red squirrels are a lot smaller and daintier. Personally I'd quite like to eradicate the grey squirrel population... The red ones are so much nicer and more at one with our environment.
I mean look there is really no comparison is there:

Gah well I'm refusing to let them kill it...we're gonna try and make them leave on their own by making a bit of noise in the loft.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but, vermin though it may be, a squirrel is still an animal - the name RSPCA is slightly misleading in this sense!
