Falling dreams

I have these all the time, and they are really irritating, because when I wake up in the night, I still feel tired in the morning.
It's not as though I'm falling from anything to anything, I don't picture myself falling out of an aeroplane or something, I just feel like I'm falling, and then feel like I 'land' on my bed as I wake up. These dreams don't scare me as such, but they do momentarily creep me out when I wake up having felt like I fell a great height.

What's going on?

I used to have these all the time and I hated them :frown: They scared me and the feeling when waking up was horrible
I grew out of them after a while, maybe you will to?
Do you have any worries at the moment to cause stress?

Sorry, didn't see that until I posted again. Yeah, a few worries I suppose, the usual A level coursework and revision issue which I'm sure affects every 17-18 year old  , plus some pretty serious family issues.

Hmm well maybe its connected? Worrying might cause you to have these dreams?
*Tries to sound smart* Hehe I'm not sure though but hope they go away soon

I'm not an expert, so please don't put a lot of weight on what I say, but I read somewhere that dreams in which you are falling are a sign that you maybe feel, either consciously or subconsciously, that you have a lack of support from others in your life and feel slightly insecure - but it is not for me to say whether this is you or not.

However, if within these falling dreams you do not feel frightened, it is meant to signify that you are going to overcome your problems quite easily.

If you feel that any of these states of mind relates to you, if it is an issue of insecurity etc then maybe try speaking to someone you trust to see if you can conquor these problems and thus reduce the dreams.

However, you must remember that dream interpretation is not always reliable.

If the frequency of the dreams really does bother you, maybe just have a quick chat to a doctor who may know whats up.

Good luck and take care

I love dreams where i'm falling.. like a hippy. A falling hippy. After my "come down" from getting so high. Are we talking about the same thing?

I sometimes have this thing when i have just fallen asleep and i feel as if i have just tripped over and my body jolts- it feels so real. It kind of scares me for a second, then i wake up and i find it strange but cool. Random.

I think there was a thread on this not that long ago. Virtually everyone has them and there's nothing to worry about - they're on a similar sort of weird-but-normal level as deja-vus!!

i heard that was a security thing from when we were less evolved and slept in trees and stuff to keep us on our toes.

I had them three nights in a row one week, I pay no attention to them. I don't get scared when I wake-up but in my dream as I am falling I recall feeling scared of hitting the ground. And a curious sensation in my stomach. It was like being on a fair-ground ride like the swinging pirate ship, I don't know why I compare it to that.

I heard that dreams that involve yourself falling indicate that you're astral projecting. I had a dream about being in a made up house that belonged to my then boyfriend. The dream ended with me falling through space...just falling and falling. I told my then boyfriend about it and described his mother and his brother and he was just so freaked out cos I'd never seen nor met them before and I had apparently described them really accurately.

That was my one and only falling dream so far...
