Making friends inside a relationship

Okay peeps; do you think being in a relationship makes it more difficult to make new friends? I'm especially interested in what my fellow gays have to say because the scene is a whole world apart from the straight realm!

I've recently had a wave of bad experiences; it would seem both parties in the relationship can't become mutual friends with another guy - he ends up wanting both of you, or just one of you - but not in a plutonic way! It seems to me that being single and gay means it’s easier to make new mates.

If you're in a couple and try to make friends, people just try to break you.

What are everyones thoughts/experiences?
I've never found it that much harder to make new friends, since i've been with my bf. people tend to make friends with both of us.

I have found both very hard to do, since i am a very shy person. And it takes time for the firends and guys to get to know who i am.

It depends how possesive the other half is, my ex gf didnt really have many mates and she got really jealous about me having other mates, i never told her if id met other people as she's just moan about it.
