Raf Cranwell

Hi there, Im going to cranwell on the 27Th april, i've been sent conflicting info regarding my choice of Nco ALM, one form sent to me says i'll be assesed at cranwell for fitness, the other says im fit for ground trades only, I had asthma as a child ( pre 16)and am worried that i'll be ruled out of contention for Alm without even having a cardio or medical assesment,ie as i had asthma as a child, am i ruled out of flying duties even if im symptom free for over 8 years?
any ideas ?

My father is RAF and my lil is in the Army.....from what im aware you have ever right to be re-tested for your asthma etc and shouldn't just be cast off to do ground duties. If the asthma does show up..they can & should actuallly probe further to see where your limitations are if any.

If you've ever had asthma, definately asthma, you're not eligible for aircrew duties. You need to be 4 years clear to be considered for ground branches. As far as I remember, it's unfortunately not negotiable; sorry.
