Maximise chances of getting on foundation year? (ChemEng)

Hi everyone
I'm currently doing my AS levels, along with re-doing maths gcse (messed around in school, sat foundation - yep, regrets!)

My subjects are:

Chemistry
Biology
English Lang/Lit
Geography

Next year I intend on applying for a foundation year in engineering, leading to chemeng, at Swansea uni. It's the only place in Wales to offer chemeng undergrad, and I can in no way leave Wales (wish I could, but there's no point explaining here!). So really it's my only choice.

I'm wondering whether next year I should continue all 4 subjects, or drop 1 (eg. geog) and replace it with AS maths, which would be better because I'll have more relevant maths knowledge, but worse because I'll have less full A levels. Which do you guys think would be better? This will be combined with some shadowing at Dow Corning to help with my application.

Also I'm not sure how hard foundations are to get on. The ChemEng dept at Swansea said they take on 90 people each year for year 1, but I have no idea how many of those come from year 0?

I appreciate any words of advice!

Mike
