Durham Likely Letter...WHAT?!

I'm an American applicant to Durham Uni.

I just received an email from Durham university wishing me a happy thanksgiving, and they said "We look forward to seeing you in Durham soon."

Does this mean I'm going to get an offer? I know American schools send these things called "likely letters", but I wasn't aware UK unis did this.

I wouldn't get your hopes up until you get an offer.

They're normal standard replies they send.

No. Just going from common sense. Your never in anything until they say a certain yes.

It's probably cuz you're American. I got a merry Xmas email from Liverpool when I was applying

I live in Durham and I'm applying there. I've only received an acknowledgement of my application so far.

The admissions tutors do sometimes send email communications out directly. I received a personal email in November last year saying I had been processed and would here soon. I received my offer on the 8th of December.

Seems a long time ago the first term finished today

They are slow, majority of conditional offers come out Feb and right through to the end of March.

The folks on my course who were unconditional received them in December.

When serving on the selection panel for the graduate scheme I always sought a greater level of constructive input than you have managed to bring to the table; I trust you were not pushing your envelope too hard.....

That said I do empathise. I feel the same about individuals who score less than 90% in their summative osteology exam.

Wow, can't spell and no sense of humour. It's also hard to see how you would be in a position of authority at Durham considering you've just finished your first term there.
