i think its just an alternative to dairy. i drink soya milk too mainly coz im allergic to cows milk, lol

As far as I'm aware it's just an alternative. I have skimmed cows milk - not much fat and lots more calcium than semi skimmed (or so I've been told).

For me it's an alternative but also a healthier option than milk. I mean soya milk contains no cholesterol or "bad" fats.

Ecologically thinking I'm not sure which one is better. I don't want animals to be used to produce milk etc. but growing soya beans need lots of land and isn't that good either. Well, it probably wasn't meant to be the topic of this discussion..

I've recently taken to drinking soya too, because I thought it was healthier. Although it does seem to be pretty similar to cows milk in terms of calcium, fat and calorie levels. Ask a nutritionist?
I believe whole animal milk to be the "healthiest" option. Organic, ofcourse. Normal milk cows are loaded with all sorts of crap.

If you look into it, theres plenty of supporters for every option (soya/dairy, and the different fat levels of the latter) and each have their reasons.

Theres plenty of websites, these two take opposing views:

I drink soya milk as I'm a vegan. Soya milk is also healthier as it's very low in cholesterol.

cows milk is for baby cows.

Soya milk is of course healthier. Rice Milk is good too

i drink both because they are both nice
Any non-animal milk is healthier than animal milks as animal milks have high colesteral (sp) and non-animal don't so therefore healthier.

i have soya because my family is alergic to cows milk. I spose it must be healthier. They can pump whatever they want into it i spose, and the taste is shoddy as it is.

Soya milk, well most brands, contain added vitamins, which can't be bad. It's also lower in fat and cholesterol than dairy, making it the right choice :yy:. Except it tastes like crap... I drink it cos cow's milk makes me feel sick. If you don't like the taste, get chocolate flavour!

That is the dumbest thing I have read for a while. First of all, something having high cholesterol in it doesn't make it unhealthy, and it is the stupidest reason to say "therefore it is healthier". Secondly, high cholesterol content in food has little effect on your cholesterol levels, so it doesn't particularly matter. You obviously don't even understand it, in fact you can't even spell it.

Dairy milk is better for so many reasons which I can't be bothered to go into. Soy increases estrogen levels in men for one, which certainly isn't a good thing. Soy must die.

Jesh you're an angery person and yes I can't spell I don't need a dips*** like you pointing out something I've known for YEARS.

As it happens non-animal milks are known to be alot healthier for the body than animal milks. Animal milks are basically liquid protien and too much protien can leach calcuim from the bones. The last I checked calcuim was needed for healthy bones so surely having it leached out of them is not good or healthy. Most people that consume anmial products and by products consume too much protein so yeah not good.

That's complete crap. You haven't even explained why, and debating things that you don't understand is not good.
can anyone thats crying about cholesterol in animal milk provide some sort of evidence to back up their belief that it is "unhealthy"
Soy ,ilk is, as I understand, on the whole healthier. It contains a lot less sugar than cow milk, is reinforced with extra calcium and soy protein is very good for you, especially in women, where much research suggests that it can stave off ovarian and breast cancer. Also, most humans are lactose intolerant, and lactose free milk is digested much easier than dairy milk, and that's in every one.

He meant normal milk from cows, I believe, which is true.
