present to say goodbye

when i go to uni in september i know it will be the end of my relationship of over a year and i want to get my girlfriend something special to remember us by. any ideas what? i've already got her a necklace but don't want to get a ring cos that cud give the wrong impression. also cos i'm going to uni i'll have to budget about a hundred/hundred and fifty quid.

um, how do you know it will be the end of your relationship just because you're going to uni?

and for the present- something really personal and something which only you two would understand.

Why are you staying together until September if you don't plan on trying to make it work once you start Uni?

Get her a calender marked on the day you split up. Why did you post this anonymous?

You could also make a mix CD for her  put loads of classic songs that mean stuff to you both so that whenever she listens to any of those songs she'll think of you

Write her a letter, telling her everything you've felt for her and the good memories you have, first kiss etc. It will be in your writing and she can keep it forever and if its good she will know its taken abit of effort.

p.s are you quite 'mad' about her? if so, don't just give up coz of uni, if you love someone an LDR will work

You should check out what bands are playing and take her for a really amazing night out to see her favourite band, something she'll remember. Although this does depend on who's on tour and they don't sometimes announce the dates until quite near the time...might be difficult to plan ahead. The mix CD thing is a good idea, I love making mix tapes for my friends.

Get her pregnant. She'll remember you by that. Oh yeah.

how about finish on better terms and not finish , if you really like each other. Good relationships can withstand a few hundred or thousand miles. The world is a smaller place .
Though, if you're set on doing it then maybe get a gift that says you'll be friends forever.

But if you've already decided you're going to split up in September, then why not tell her now. Another 5 months is only going to let you both get more attached to each other. I'd be honest with her now. Maybe shes expecting things to end, and is ok with carrying on until September? If not, at least give her the choice of cutting her losses now!

yeahh woooh hold on do you really have to break up just because your going to Uni, if she truely loves you i am sure she will want to stay with you and likewise for yourself, (there's alot of these break up because of uni threads lately)
