I heard that some Cambridge colleges do that, but I haven't heard of any Oxford ones to give feedback. Which college was it?

Yea:

Dear Madam/Sir,

I am writing with regard to my application in the Winter round of 2003 to read Mathematics at Balliol. Having been given an offer, I am writing to enquire what caused the desicion to go in my favour.
Yours sincerely blah blah

I got my oxford feedback today...

It said that i was a good candidate, went into detail what i did wrong and right in my interview, and said that in previous years i probably would have got a place, which is so annoying!!!

if only i was 5 years older...(!)

Oh well, i'm off to UCL instead.

I was told by my school that they are usually give out feedback to unsucessful candidates only - though I expect there are plenty of exceptions.

Ok here is my feed back:

I am forwarding my notes concerning [medic]. I hope that
this gives you sufficient detail. As you will realise, the full field of
applicants was very large. In the end, [medic]'s scores in the various
categories (BMAT test, interview, GCSE history, school report, A level
prediction) were not sufficient to gain him a place. He was, however, a
competitive candidate whose performance in previous years may well have
earnt him a place. Please appreciate that the competition to read
Medicine is high, probably higher than in most other subjects. [medic]
should not therefore be discouraged by his not gaining a place at
Oxford, he was highly regarded. In the end his scores, when set against
others who applied, were such that he was just excluded.

After interview, [medic] was on a
final list of FHS candidates who applied (out of nearly 45 for 6 places
who applied to our College, roughly average for the University as a
whole). I can say that [medic] was regarded highly as he was listed after
interview as a candidate for the final graduate fifteen (6 places
awarded at our College, plus one place awarded at short notice, based
again on the realtive position ). But in the end, he was pipped by the
others.

As regards details of his interview at Oxford, we talked about the
kidney and about aquaporins that had then just hit the headlines as
subject of the most recent Nobel Prize for Chemistry. [medic] was a bit
slow to point out that renal water re-uptake may be related to Na ion
re-uptake by the distal tubule. We did point out this in the easiest
terms, and he did get there in the end. This then took us onto the
subject of water channels in the loop of Henle, and here [medic] was
middling. In the end, allowing for all other variables, we sent back a
middling score.

[medic]'s BMATscore was acceptable.

Overall, his test plus his interview scores indicated that we put him
in the border-zone and I am afraid he did not make it. We do think he
was a good candidate as we had gathered him into a final group of
fifteen for interview. In the end, a place was awarded elsewhere.

So there you have it!
