Anyone else get fat during exam time?

I noticed this for GCSE, as i'm quite an active person going to the gym regularly and playing sports etc.

Last year, the 8 weeks before my GCSE's started i put on hold my sports activities etc. to give me more time for revision before my exams. By the time the exams finished, i realised i had put on about half a stone over the exam period! Mainly because i was sitting in my room, eating, revising, reading, eating some more.. giving myself rewards at the end of revision sessions like - oh i'll have an ice cream once i get this bit done etc.

Well the preparation paid off as i got all A*s, but i got fatter... i did manage to lose it all over summer though which was good. but i see it happening again now.. and i dont like it

anyone else get this problem? or just me?

Well I don't get fat, but surely there's always time for a little daily exercise, even with revision.

Lodgey you hipocretin, you are the fattest person I know. :askpig:

no...

if anything, and we're overanalysing here, increased cortisol levels could promote muscle-wasting, causing me to lose weight. but i don't get stressed, so such events are purely hypothetical.

i find the opposite actually because when im holed up in my room revising, i forget about eating so dont snack at all (which is very unlike me)

Reply 5

Nah, it's not a question of "getting"....

Reply 6

Probably all the extra chocolate I'm forced to eat to stop myself bursting into tears lol.

I don't gain (or lose) weight; but then nor do I revise, as of late.

I've never revised once in my life, the 2nd or (more likely) 3rd year finals will provide a "once in a lifetime experience".

(Off topic, sort of.)

I don't get fat

I don't think I eat that much more during exam time. I suppose I might eat even more chocolate and sweets than normal  but luckily I'm one of those people who can eat an insanely unhealthy diet, do no exercise whatsoever other than walking and stil not gain any weight :p:

Me too! I stop running before exams, and the only time I can really force myself to study is when I'm eating (preferably a large bowl of popcorn).

I tend to eat a lot of dried fruit when I revise. As in a LOT - I can get through a kilogram of dried fruit in 4 sessions. I avoid the scales until at least after my last exam

Reply 16

I prefer fruit that's not dried... or just jaffa cakes/doritos/big roast chicken/anything from nando's.... mmmmm.... nando's....

I lose weight during my exams...because of the stress :p:
