According to Oprah it really destorys lives and lead to 'sexual frenzy', addiciton and an absolute disreguard for others. It's supposed to be quite a problem in the gay community - not that I'd know!

yeah I see all that, and I've seen the pictures on the internet where you can see the difference each time a person is arrested. I've never heard of anyone taking it... in the uk.

no. speed is amphetamine. this is methamphetamine, very similar. It gets mixed into ecstacy pills alot but it's hard to score smokable stuff, it's rare.

Here in Canada meth is a pretty big problem. However I'd never really heard of it whilst I was growing up in the UK. I'm sure it is around but it really isn't as accessible or popular as in Canada & America. It seems to be the isolated communities & native reserves that have the most difficulties with it. I guess in the UK there really aren't many isolated places!

Apparently its not really hit the UK yet - there isnt a huge demand for it because theres a huge supply of things like pills coming in from amsterdam area. But its started making a very small appearance in the gay scene so I heard and its only a matter of time till it catches on. This was all in an article I read in the economist or something I think...

Its super super addictive; one of my friends (who uses drugs recreationally) said pretty much in the league of crack cocaine with regards to that. And its a dirty drug too apparently.

Anyway this is all stuff I vaguely remember hearing/reading :p:

It is a huge problem in the gay community in the big gay centres (ie brighton, london manchester etc.) but not really much elsewhere in the uk, it removes all inhibitions and is hence popular in a sexually driven gay scene.

There was a statistic on erowid regarding meth and cocaine, unfortunately i can't find it atm. Anyway, it claimed the addiction rate amongst cocaine users is 70% (meaning approx. 70% of users are addicts) while the addiction rate amongst methamphetamine was said to be 90%.

As has been said, it can be found around the UK in the bigger cities, but hasn't made much of an impact across the country yet. With pills and now cocaine getting stupidly cheap i guess some of the market for it dissapeared.

ecstacy isn't that dangerous, it's hardly good for you but there is a lot of propaganda out there. I'm not advocating its use, of course.

What does ecstacy have to do with crystal meth? Apart from both being illegal drugs. And as coughsyrup said; its hardly dangerous. One pill has about the likelihood of killing you as you choking on spinach and dying. Something like that anyway.

Of course, not advocating the use of the drug. That would be wrong :biggrin:

More than you might think: para-methamphetamine is often sold as MDMA or mixed in cheap pills, someone who isn't me believes he has had this problem with some MDMA powder before. However, the poster appears to have confused methamphetamine with methylenedioxyamphetaine.

Someone who isn't me used to take ecstacy quite a lot and he can still perform the cerebral functions he used to, he was just a little depressed for a while afterwards. I think he'd tell you to take it if you want to because all of the propaganda is bull****. He'd say don't overhydrate yourself and just go crazy, also you should restrict your usage because it gets worse if you do too much of it, he'd want you to keep it special.
